Institute for Atmospheric and Earth System Research (INAR).
Leadership is provided for the Intelligent Environmental Monitoring and Analytics (IRON) research group. The group’s mission is to bridge the gap between advanced data science and environmental physics, fostering an environment where interdisciplinary innovation can thrive.
Currently serving as an Academy Research Fellow and Data Scientist, with a research focus at the intersection of computer science and environmental physics. This role involves the development of specialized Artificial Intelligence methods, including Edge AI, machine learning, deep learning, and information theory, to advance the study of atmospheric sciences, air pollution, and complex Earth systems.
Enhancing Research Infrastructure and Analytics
A significant portion of this work is dedicated to enhancing research infrastructure through:
Sensing & Analytics: Developing robust systems for sensor calibration, fault detection, and virtual sensing.
Instrumentation & Automation: Improving the reliability and efficiency of environmental monitoring tools.
Large-Scale Data Systems: Leveraging cloud computing and big data architectures to handle high-resolution environmental datasets.
Since 2017, the path within the university has evolved through several research and fellowship roles:
Academy Research Fellow (2023–Present)
HIIT Research Fellow (2022–2023)
Visiting Researcher (2021–2022)
Senior Post-Doctoral Researcher (2017–2020)
Academic Leadership and Community Engagement
Beyond core research, daily activities focus on supporting the academic ecosystem through:
Mentorship: Supporting the growth of the next generation of researchers by supervising Doctoral, Master’s, and Intern students within the IRON group.
Instruction: Contributing to university-level teaching within the fields of Data Science and Environmental Analytics.
Coordination: Facilitating research networking and interdisciplinary collaboration across international networks.
Strategic Planning: Leading the development of research proposals to sustain the group’s long-term scientific objectives and project funding.
